Durante el fin de semana, en las instalaciones de Gimnasia y Esgrima se llevó a cabo el último Nacional de de verano de waterpolo.
Fueron tres días donde el natatorio del Parque albergó a los ocho mejores equipos del país en la categoría sub 17 que vieron consagrarse a Sportsmen Unidos. El podio lo completaron Regatas Santa Fe y River.
El viernes en el primer día de competencia se llevaron a cabo dos jornadas. Por la mañana, abriendo el torneo Sportsmen inició su camino al título con una victoria por 16-7 ante Provincial. A continuación, Regatas Santa Fe por la misma zona A no tuvo inconvenientes para superar a Newell’s por 18 a 5. En tanto por el grupo B, Moreno venció al anfitrión Gimnasia 6 a 2 y River hizo lo propio con Independiente por 9-5.
Ya en el turno vespertino, por la zona A Sportsmen venció 9 a 4 a Regatas Santa Fe y Provincial a Newell’s 20 a 6. Mientras que por el grupo B Moreno sumó su segundo éxito ante River por 11-5 y la jornada se cerró con la victoria de GER ante Independiente 10-3.
El sábado continuó la actividad con una nueva doble jornada de partidos. En horario matutino, Regatas Santa Fe superó a Provincial 9-7 y Sportsmen cerró el grupo A con victoria ante Newell’s por 17-3. En tanto la zona B concluyó con las victorias de River ante GER por 7-3 y Moreno sobre Independiente 10-8.
Por la tarde llegó el momento de los cruces para definir los duelos del día domingo donde se definirían las posiciones.
Por los cruces del 5º al 8º puesto, el local GER superó a Newell’s por 23-10 y Provincial a Independiente 14-9.
En tanto por semifinales, Sportsmen no tuvo inconvenientes para vencer a River 15-4, mientras que Regatas Santa Fe en un cerrado final se quedó con el pase a la final al vencer a Moreno 8-7.
El día domingo la actividad en el natatorio del Parque comenzó bien temprano con el choque por el séptimo puesto en donde Independiente venció a Newell’s. A continuación por la quinta colocación, el anfitrión superó a Provincial.
En el duelo por el tercer puesto, River venció a Moreno para quedarse con el último lugar del podio.
En tanto cerrando el torneo, Sportsmen Unidos se quedó con el título del último torneo de verano al superar 10-6 a Regatas Santa Fe.
